here are my new full range speakers with clamps, made from pine frames glued together to make the cabinets, with a 2-1/2 inch full range Yamaha driver. nice sound from the cabinets. there is a small hole in the rear for bass. there is a nice sound stage and depth with these. very surprised and happy
very cool, if you like that shape you should try to build simple horns. you can enhance your SLP by several dB!
I would love to make a few speaker during the summer break but I dont have any money to by components...

thanks, would i put the speakers behind the horns? yeah i'm broke too, so i took these yamaha drivers out of a cheap pair of computer speakers. they sound pretty nice with these wooden boxes
Yeah. They would need a small chamber to be mounted in. Then you build horn out from the holding chamber like this. [link]
If you have enough money and time horn speakers is the best that money can buy. If you're an audiophile you probably own a tube amp with low watt but with pure signal and let the horn do rest of the work. The combination sound awesome by the way...
Yeah, cheap speakers can usually be modified to sound way better. Amazing what a little wood can do...

Open to all mediums. Deadline is March 10, 2010 @ 11:59pm PST.
